Years 5 & 6
Years 5 & 6 at St Mary’s is a unique concept in that it has been established specifically to be more developmentally responsive to the needs of early adolescents.
It is critical at this level of schooling that the links between learning experiences at school and the skills required for future life as learners and citizens be forged.
Engaging Students in the learning process
“A focus on individual learning styles, where instruction is personalised and more relevant to the age level of these students.”
Students in the Years 5 & 6 are taught by specialist teachers for each of the QSA and Australian Curriculum Learning Areas.
Primary and Secondary teachers work collaboratively to provide quality learning experiences that address the needs and interests of young adolescent students.
The Years 5 & 6 curriculum centres on engaging students in the learning process through an integrated approach to curriculum design, and a focus on individual learning styles, where instruction is personalised and more relevant to the age level of these students.
